Proven Thoroughbreds can confirm Ladbrokes has selected PRIVATE EYE as its slot runner for next month’s $1million Supernova (1400m).
Having contested The Everest three times, PRIVATE EYE is no stranger to slot races and is set to start a commanding favourite when he lines up at Pakenham on December 13.
Trainer Joe Pride plans to trial PRIVATE EYE on December 2 at either Canterbury or Kembla Grange in preparation for the 1400m contest.
The 8yo gelding will then head down the Hume Highway on Thursday night and arrive at his new home away from home – Charlotte Littlefield’s Pakenham stables – in the early hours of Friday.
PRIVATE EYE’s last two visits to Victoria have yielded wins in the Group 2 Lawrence Stakes and Group 3 Moonga Stakes, both of which are 1400m contests run under set weights and penalties, the exact same conditions of the Supernova.
In eight career starts over 1400m, the veteran galloper has finished out of the placings only once, which was a 4th (beaten 1.5L) in the 2021 Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap on a rapidly deteriorating track.
In PRIVATE EYE’s quest for a 15th career win and $13million in prizemoney, he will once again have the services of champion jockey Nash Rawiller, who has partnered the gelding in his last four victories.
In recognition of Ladbrokes’ representation, PRIVATE EYE will race with a Ladbrokes designed cap and Proven Thoroughbreds jacket.
The Supernova, a relatively new concept, is the second leg of the Southside Slot Series which opens with the $1million Meteorite (1200m) at Cranbourne this Saturday.
