Wow! What a start for STAY INSIDE! The son of EXTREME CHOICE has had three runners thus far and two have won, including the time-honoured Breeders’ Plate victor.
Like every first season sire in the contemporary yearling market, buyers shelled out a healthy premium (average of $233,000) for the STAY INSIDE stock at the 2025 Sales. That’s not unusual for sexy, freshman sires. After all, blue sky sells, exposure means judgement.
And even though the 2025/26 2yo season is only a couple of weeks old, the hype around his progeny will not abate in the 2026 Sales Season. Indeed, after such a brilliant start, frenzied FOMO will almost certainly induce a substantial increase.
Look at 2024, when the new kid on the block OLE KIRK also sired the Breeders’ Plate winner. That prompted a 32% rise in average for his yearlings the following year.
Factor at least that rise into prices for STAY INSIDE’s second season yearlings and you’re looking at an average of $307,000.
That makes our unraced 2yo colt (STAY INSIDE x CRYSTAL DYNASTY), pretty attractive at $4,450 for 2.5%. That’s about half what you’ll likely be paying in a few months…unless the horse has only 3 legs or looks more like a rabbit!
