Always prudent to seek another opinion when considering the purchase of shares in a racehorse and who better than someone who has intel on the family?
Familial knowledge is something not readily available so when it lands in your lap it’s worth noting.
By pure coincidence, when we sent the BRUTAL x SO MAGIC 2yo colt to Milangall Park for his winter spell, a key piece of information came to light.
Danielle Jacklin, who runs Milangall, told us this:
“I raised SO MAGIC on this farm, looked after her during her racing career and even sold her first foal who was very nice but unfortunately had a freak life ending injury on her way home from the sales to her new owners,” Jacklin said in a recent email.
“I like this colt even more than that filly. He has his mother’s massive shoulders and just looks super powerful.
“I think you have a very nice horse here and would recommend him to anyone.”
Only now is it easy to see why the colt’s breeder retained a 10% share.
SO MAGIC was a more than handy racehorse, winning 3 of her 7 career starts which also included a narrow second to subsequent Group 1 performer SWEET DEAL.
Just 15% remains in this colt, who is due to head back into Joe Pride’s stables next month. Here is what Joe had to say about him when last in work (watch video below):
