The hectic Magic Millions Sales are over for another year so we turn our attention back to the racetrack with a host of runners in QLD and NSW.

Debutant ALDEZOR steps out for Joe Pride at the midweek Randwick-Kensington meeting following two eye-catching trials, while stablemate COSMONOVA (pictured) will look to go one better when she lines up at Rosehill’s Saturday fixture.

Up north, Matt Hoysted saddles up a trio of strong chances at Beaudesert on Thursday in last start winners CHATTERBOX and HEYOKA as well as TAKE A BOW.

Last week we saw NZ import ELLE HUDSON win his second Australian start with a dominant 2.5 length victory at Newcastle. The result completed a Proven-Pride double after OTONO shed her maiden at Orange earlier in the day.

As for the sales ring, we have been active as usual and you can catch up on all of our recent Magic Millions purchases HERE.

SIRE ON FIRE – HARRY ANGEL

Sired the Magic Millions maiden winner HEAVENLY IMPACT last Saturday, off the back of producing PRIVATE HARRY to an emphatic victory in the inaugural $3 million Sunlight the previous week. Four other winners since Saturday made HARRY ANGEL the logical choice for this week’s sire on fire.

BLACK BOOKER – ROCK THE SUNRISE

Only got warm late first-up over 1200m at Eagle Farm. Had to go right back from a wide barrier on that occasion so if he can draw a bit closer next time over 1400m, he will improve sharply.

BET WITH NIC

Our times analyst Nic Ashman is currently on annual leave so his popular weekly tip as well as his audio previews for owners is on hiatus until the end of the month.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners

Randwick-Kensington Wednesday January 15

Maiden Plate 1150m

ALDEZOR

Joe Pride/Adam Hyeronimus

Comment: On debut. Trials have been very encouraging, albeit still doing a few things wrong. If he can settle through the early and middle stages, look out for him late.

Beaudesert Thursday January 16

3YO BM58 Handicap 1100m

TAKE A BOW

Matt Hoysted/Fiona Sandkuhl (a1.5)

Comment: Hit the line sweetly after missing the kick first-up over 800m. Drawn well and can take up closer order over 1100m. Strong claims in this class of race.

BM58 Handicap 1400m

CHATTERBOX

Matt Hoysted/Fiona Sandkuhl

Comment: Led all the way and won easily to break her maiden over 1200m last start. The extra 200m shapes as though it won’t be a problem, it may well end up being advantageous as she will get a steadier tempo in front.

BM65 Handicap 1200m

HEYOKA

Matt Hoysted/Jasper Franklin (a0)

Comment: Burst back to form with a strong win at Warwick fresh from a break. Should enjoy the extra 100m here but will need to overcome a tricky gate.

Sunshine Coast Friday January 19

Maiden Handicap 1800m

DEJA ZOU

Matt Hoysted/Boris Thornton

Comment: Unplaced in three starts to date so needs to improve but does get to a trip now that is shaping as though it will suit. Drawn well so should get every chance.

Rosehill Saturday January 18

BM78 Handicap 1100m

COSMONOVA

Joe Pride/Reece Jones

Comment: Just found one better first-up from a spell over this trip at Randwick. Has the advantage of another low draw and was a winner here at the end of last preparation. Go well.
