TOWN CRIER justified a significant betting plunge to break through for a deserved win at Dalby on Thursday.
The SPIRIT OF BOOM gelding won on debut on June 28 last year and despite a city placing and some good performances since, it took almost a year to the day to find his second win.
The Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted-trained TOWN CRIER ($2.50 – $1.75) had 1.8L to spare on the line over GALWAY HUSSLER ($26) with 0.8L to JOJO RABBIT ($6.50) in third.
They stopped the clock at 1.02:14 for the 1100m with the last 600m covered in 34.55.

“Good to see him bounce back and that will be a confident boosting run for him,” jockey Emily Lang said.
“He jumped well and I thought we’d lead but they seemed desperate to lead on SALT LAKE BETTY so I just elected to let them go and sit behind where he travelled beautifully.
“The horse to my outside wasn’t going that well coming to the turn so I got inside him and made our run.
“He’s still a bit green, At this stage I’d suggest not letting him get to the front too soon as he’s still learning.”
TOWN CRIER was a $160,000 purchase from the Emirates Park draft of the 2022 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast.
He becomes our 48th winner this season with our earnings now totalling just shy of $16million.
