An impressive Melbourne 2YO winner has provided a significant endorsement of the MAURICE x TEASPOON colt Proven Thoroughbreds acquired at Magic Millions last month.
LITTLE STIRRER, a WRITTEN TYCOON half-sister to our colt, has Group races on the agenda this autumn after a resounding first-up victory at Sandown-Lakeside on Wednesday.
Despite a blistering 20.74 between the 800m and 400m, LITTLE STIRRER overcame a three-wide run to win the 1000m event in 56.65 – almost 5 lengths faster than benchmark for maiden grade at Sandown.

Co-trainer Ben Hayes hinted the victory was sweet justice after a “luckless debut” behind TRAFFIC WARDEN, who will race in Saturday’s Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.
“She did not have much luck at her first start, she was caught wide and had a tough run,” Hayes said before signalling a Flemington Group 3 target.
“The Thoroughbred Breeders’ (Stakes) is likely the direction we will take with her. We will see how she pulls up and plot a course.”
LITTLE STIRRER was a $500,000 purchase at the 2023 Inglis Easter Yearling Sales. She is the second winner from three to race for TEASPOON, a smart juvenile who won the Group 3 Widden Stakes in 2017.
The MAURICE half-brother, which we bought for a comparatively cheap $120,000 + GST, recently completed his breaking-in at Kolora Lodge (see video below) and somewhat predictably, shares are filling up fast after yesterday’s pedigree update.
From $4125 inc GST (2.5% share), you too can become an owner in this exciting colt.
