LITTLE COINTREAU took the notoriously difficult rise from maiden to class 1 company with a tenacious effort at Wyong on Saturday.

In what was his first run outside of maiden grade, LITTLE COINTREAU pulled out all stops under the urgings of Alysha Collett to win the 1350m event in a thrilling photo finish.

A good portion of the gelding’s owners were on course to witness the race which brought up Proven Thoroughbreds’ fourth victory in as many days. The Pride stable has provided three of those wins while Collett has been aboard in two of them.

LITTLE COINTREAU, a son of CONTRIBUTER, is building a consistent record that now reads two wins and four placings from only seven starts.

The 4YO was a relatively inexpensive yearling, selling for $65,000 to Proven at the 2021 Inglis Classic Sale. Wentwood Grange, breeders of Group 1 stars like KERMADEC and KOLDING, was the vendor.

Proven’s tally of winners for the season now stands at 18, with 55 recorded for the calendar year.
