Tough stayer STOCKMAN is set to back up in the $750,000 Group 3 Craven Plate (1800m) at Randwick this Saturday.

The Joe Pride-trained gelding gets out to a suitable distance for the first time this preparation and if the weather forecast is correct, he will be afforded some give in the track as well.

STOCKMAN will be partnered by his regular jockey Sam Clipperton, who is riding the crest of a wave following his Everest triumph on stablemate THINK ABOUT IT earlier this month.

Meanwhile, another high profile stablemate, PRIVATE EYE is set to have a ‘tick-over’ trial at Rosehill on Friday in preparation for the $3 million Giga Kick Stakes (1300m) back at Rosehill on November 4 where another clash with THINK ABOUT IT awaits.

Our Queensland runners this week are headed by last start winner THATFEELSBETTER at Doomben on Saturday.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners

Sunshine Coast Friday October 27

Class 1 Handicap 1400m

BETTER YET

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Emily Lang (a2)

Comment: Third-up over the same course and distance this campaign. Drawn favourably and gets in light. Each-way.

QTIS 3YO BM62 Handicap 1000m

SHOT OF WHISKEY

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Emily Lang (a2)

Comment: Found one better here last start off a freshen. Should be at his top now, just needs some luck from a tricky draw in a small field.

Randwick Saturday October 28

G3 Craven Plate 1800m

STOCKMAN

Joe Pride/Sam Clipperton

Comment: Didn’t stretch out on a firm track at Rosehill first-up and then was inconvenienced just as he was making a run at them second-up. Capable of sharp improvement at odds.

Doomben Saturday October 28

BM80 Handicap 1600m

SECRET TALES

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Samantha Collett

Comment: On quick back-up after finishing 4.5 lengths from the winner in an on-paced dominated affair at Eagle Farm. Ran second in fast time over this track and distance in March.

BM78 Handicap 1200m

THATFEELSBETTER

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Boris Thornton

Comment: Strong winner over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast last start and looks ready for 1200m now. His second to stablemate ENTERPRISE POMME when third-up over this distance last preparation is good enough to win this.
