Flashy mare DEEP CLEAN deservedly shed her maiden tag at the Sunshine Coast’s Sunday meeting.
A habit of missing the start and a lack of race craft had limited DEEP CLEAN to three minor placings in her six previous starts but she finally put everything together in Sunday’s 1400m contest.
Having her first run for leading jockey Ben Thompson, DEEP CLEAN landed in a midfield position one off the fence but was eased into a three-wide line with cover after racing keenly for the first couple of furlongs.
DEEP CLEAN began to launch her challenge at the 400m mark and steadily made up ground to reel in the leader and pull away by a length on the line.

With her platinum blonde mane and tail, DEEP CLEAN is hard to miss and has not surprisingly become a staff favourite in the stables of Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted.
The 4YO daughter of CHOISIR was purchased for a mere $8,000 from the Magic Millions online sale as an unbroken 2YO.
She becomes Proven Thoroughbreds’ 39th winner for the 2022-23 racing season.
