Promising filly MOUNT WARNING is on her way to bigger things after disposing of her maiden at Gosford on ANZAC Day.

The daughter of ASTERN had trialled in brilliant fashion leading into Tuesday’s 1000m Maiden Plate and got the job done as a $1.60 favourite.

Keagan Latham was handed the reins and didn’t over complicate things, parking outside the leader before surging clear in the run home to score by a length.

MOUNT WARNING showed her inexperience by shifting ground over the final 100m but had the race safely in her keeping.

“I think it’s pretty evident she is a smart filly,” Latham remarked post-race

“She’s still a bit green and learning but the ability is there.

“She’s got a fantastic temperament and natural speed as well.”

Whatever heights MOUNT WARNING achieves on the racetrack, she has already become a shrewd investment for her owners.

Purchased by Proven Thoroughbreds for only $50k from Riversdale’s draft at the 2021 Inglis Classic Sale, MOUNT WARNING recently had a significant pedigree upgrade with the half-sister PRINCESS DUHALLOW winning a stakes race at Flemington last month.

Proven’s winners tally for the year is now up to 23.
