Proven Thoroughbreds was greeted with a stronger than usual market at Melbourne’s Inglis Premier Yearling Sale but as is normally the case, some lots sneaked through the cracks.

The sale’s average price ($129,162) was up more than 11% on last year’s figure while the gross spend increased by almost $1.6 million.

Fortunately though we were able to acquire three lots for prices we deemed to be below the market indicators. After all, every horse has a price and Proven Thoroughbreds’ primary aim during sales time is to identify value.

Indeed, the best horse in the country at the moment, ALLIGATOR BLOOD, was bought for a modest $55k.

— VANCOUVER x KICKER filly —

$50,000 + GST

“Lovely filly who I expect is going to continue to develop. VANCOUVER has had a great start to his stud career with a couple of metro winners and three stakes performers from only a handful of runners – I think he will only build on that during the second half of the 2yo season.” – Steve O’Dea

— KERMADEC x LOVE FOR RANSOM colt —

$95,000 + GST

“I’m a big fan of KERMADEC. He won a Doncaster and George Main Stakes – not many horses do that – and you can see the quality he throws in his offspring. This colt isn’t too heavy and caught my eye from the moment I saw him at the sales.”Joe Pride
