Hulking chestnut SHOW ME THE HONEY made an emphatic return to form at Hawkesbury on Thursday courtesy of a smart ride by Shaun Guymer.
Out of the placings in his three previous starts, SHOW ME THE HONEY appreciated rising to 1400m and the hands of Guymer to win the Benchmark 64 Handicap three quarters of a length.
The John Bateman-trained galloper travelled up outside the leader mid race and had enough in the tank to stave off a late challenge from the favourite HE’S A GIVEN and post his third win from 12 career starts.
The result enhanced Bateman’s impressive recent stats for Proven Thoroughbreds which has yielded seven winners from our last 22 starters for the Goulburn-based trainer.
SHOW ME THE HONEY is by CHOISIR and was purchased by Proven at the 2016 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for $80k.
